1. Governor Dick Marker
Inscription.
Situated about a mile up this footpath is Governor Dick. There stands a monolithic observation tower of reinforced concrete and steel. Fifteen feet in diameter and sixty-six feet high. From it is visible a wondrous view of the picturesque Mt. Gretna hills and surrounding country-side. On a clear day parts of Lebanon, Dauphin, York, Lancaster and Berks Counties can be seen.

Governor Dick is named for one of the woodchoppers and charcoal burners who worked solely at this point. His name was Dick and his fellow-workers called him Governor. After his passing this hill was named Governor Dick.

This site and surrounding 1105 acres of woodland was acquired by Clarence Schock, president of the Sico Company, Mount Joy, Pennsylvania in 1934 and presented by Mr. Schock and his wife Evetta Jeffers Schock to the Mount Joy Schock District in 1953. This woodland must be kept intact and used as a playground and public park. The Sico Company built the tower in 1954 and will contribute funds needed to maintain the premises.

This marker stands on the roadbed of the narrow gauge railroad built in 1889 and disbanded in 1896 at the exact location where the railway to Governor Dick crossed Pinch Road.
