1. Mill Pond Model Yacht Club Marker

Inscription. Founded 1898 by Charles Dodge, John Erickson, Fred Farmer, and Harold McKee. Originally a waterfront store, the club house was later moved to Smull Place, and after the 1938 hurricane, to this site. In 1930’s and ’40’s the 6 foot “A” class model boats were raced; now smaller 50” marbleheads are used. Special trophy races are held here honoring club members.

This plaque presented to Commodore Edward H. Helmle, Jr. by Mayor Thomas Pellegrino at the “M” National Championship Regatta, September 8–9, 1984.
