Seasonal Beauty
These stately trees delight in all seasons—from attractive exfoliating bark to the showy white flowers in spring—followed by bright red berries and vibrant red-purple fall color.

We planted many of these large specimens between 1906 and 1954. Although their exact source is unknown, their size and age indicate that they were likely a result of some of the earliest introductions of this species to the United States from Japan around the turn of the 20th century and some of the largest in the state.
