Port Washington North in Nassau County, New York — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Trash Talkin'
Since 2004, Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington has been dedicated to protecting the environment, enhancing the quality of life and increasing environmental awareness across the entire Port Washington Peninsula.
In 2013, Residents partnered with the Town of North Hempstead and Schreiber High School Tree Huggers to initiate a Post Sandy Shoreline clean-up with Guggenheim sixth graders. As part of the effort, The Tree Huggers Club created posters demonstrating how long it takes for different types of litter to degrade and the negative effects it can have on our environment. The educational materials were deemed so impactful that Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington received a grant from the local Jaggar Foundation to create this permanent exhibit along the Bay Walk.
Named Trash Talkin, the goal of the exhibit is to educate the community on the destructive effects of debris on our waterways and inspire everyone to help keep Port Washington beautiful.
We are grateful to those who helped make this exhibit a reality and are committed to keeping Port Washington Norths Bay Walk trail clean.
