2. The Kerem Shalom Lion Marker

Shalit. Gilad Shalit (Hebrew: גלעד שליט, Gilˁad Šaliṭ; born 28 August 1986) is an Israeli former soldier who, on 25 June 2006, was captured by Palestinian militants in a cross-border raid via tunnels near the Israeli border. Hamas held him captive for over five years until his release on 18 October 2011 as part of a prisoner exchange deal. (Submitted on October 28, 2025, by Jerry Klinger of Boynton Beach, Florida.)

3. Lion Sculpture Sited at Common Border of Israel, Gaza and Egypt.

Situated at the confluence of the borders of Israel, Egypt, and Gaza, the Kerem Shalom Lion, currently occupies a restricted zone. It is the 14th in the Israel Border Lion series. The Jewish American Society for Historic Preservation (JASHP) has placed Lions from the Golan to the Negev. Each Lion has a unique story amidst a larger biblical context.

Kerem Shalom means the Vineyard of Peace. The dream is that the prophecy of Isaiah, 11:6-9, will be fulfilled. All of Israel will be a Vineyard of Peace.
