Kline Sanitarium
Circa 1902
Built on one of Anoka's busiest thoroughfares, this French Second Empire style structure is of an impressive size, design, and prominent location, all of which were combined to make it unique. The building was Anoka's first hospital and played an important role in the city's settlement. The hospital had 54 rooms and also served as the home of Dr. James Kline and his family. He specialized in the treatment of tuberculosis and was known for treating the poor and wealthy with the same care and consideration.
