Powell General Store. Located on the NE corner of SR 203 and Radnor Rd, the Powell General Store was established by Welsh immigrants Robert and Ann Powell. They immigrated from Wales to Randnor in 1842 with their children John and Margaretta. The store and attached home were erected on this site before 1845. In 1866, the store was advertised as "R Powell and Son, Dealers in Dry Goods and Groceries." As Robert aged, John managed the store with the help of William Harmon, Postmaster of the Post Office located in the store. John ran the store for a few years after his father died in 1872, but by 1900 it was out of the Powell Family. Others later operating the store included E I Jones, D R Thomas and Owen Jones until it was destroyed by fire on Sept 19, 1928.
Delhi House and Tavern. The beautifully preserved house on the NW corner of SR 203 and Radnor Rd was built in 1850 by William Watkins. The brick used was made from clay obtained from the Radnor Cemetery site. Mr. Watkins and Miss Mary Jones met aboard ship as they emigrated from North Wales in 1820 and married in Radnor in 1823. He was a master carpenter, joiner and cabinet maker, important trades in a new community. In 1856, the house became an inn and tavern, including a livery stable, for stagecoach passengers during the difficult travels across the region. Originally called the Watkins Inn, the house was later named Delhi House and Tavern. Folklore has that it might have been a stop along the Underground Railroad. The Tavern is believed to have ceased operations sometime between 1866 and 1871.
