1. The Oregon Trail Marker
Inscription.
The Oregon Trail passed 250 feet west of this point. Colonies of patriotic Americans followed this route to gain possession of the Oregon country. The first colony starting from Independence, Missouri. In May 1842, the road was afterward a great highway to California, Utah and Colorado.
 
Erected 1912 by the State of Nebraska, School District No. 38, Jefferson County and the citizens of Fairbury.
