Inscription. Money to purchase this park came from the 1956 park bond measure passed by Claremont voters. In 1959 the land was acquired and the grading, access road and grass was put in after the 1963 bond measure passed. The baseball fields were built by the Little League organization during the 1960s. The City added playground equipment and for a while there was a real railroad engine at the site. The citizens of Claremont requested a place to allow dogs to exercise off-leash and a “pooch park” was added in 2001.
