Established in the early 1940's, this building housed the first full service medical clinic in the County. Built by Dr. Otto Hult who practiced medicine for 46 years. Otto Hult was born in Gladstone on Sept. 4th, 1901. He grew up in the Buckeye at 103, 4th Ave. N. After graduating in Gladstone, he attended medical school at the University of Michigan. He came back to his hometown and set up his first office above the Rialto Theatre. Once he was established in this new building, his office hours were from 9-5 and again from 7-8 in the evening to accommodate his patients. Dr. Hult wanted this new clinic to resemble a home on the outside, so his patients would feel comfortable.

Dr Hult delivered 3,800 babies during his career, 700 were home deliveries. He served on the school Board for 22 years, was the County Medical Examiner for 24 years. He helped to establish the Gladstone Golf Club and loved to hunt and fish at his cabin in Maywood. He served as a charter member of the City Chamber of Commerce and was a Rotarian as well as a member of The Planning Commission.

He raised four daughters in the city with his first wife Beverly, and in 1959 he married Naomi (Nehi) Staple and lived in her family home at 621 Wisconsin Ave. Until he passed away in 1986.
