Inscription. 1849 marked the “Gold Rush” in California. Despite the promise of riches, many gold prospectors did not find enough gold to be successful. Conditions were harsh and many went home broke taking other jobs like farming, moving to other gold and silver booms for working for large mining concerns like the Yellow Aster Mine in Randsberg.
