Welcome to Pershing State Park. This state park commemorates a significant figure in U.S. military history and preserves an important remnant of our natural history.

The park was acquired in 1937 as a tribute to Gen. John J. Pershing, leader of the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I. Gen. Pershing grew up just a few miles from here in Laclede, where his boyhood home is now a state historic site. He often visited this area as a boy.

Today, the landscape that Pershing visited is itself significant as it preserves one of the few remaining northern Missouri wetland landscapes.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is committed to preserving the state's most outstanding natural and cultural features as well as providing recreational opportunities. At Pershing State Park, it preserves and maintains a northern Missouri natural masterpiece, the only one of its kind in the state park system.
