William Jones Petty
Born 1885 in Tennessee. Brought to Waxahachie, Texas by his parents C.R. & Selassie Peevler Petty 1896. In 1907 he stepped off the stage at Hollis seeing a hustling bustling town, and cast his lot to stay the rest of his days. Hallie Word from Waxahachie became his bride in 1908. They had Margaret Virginia, and W.J. Jr. Bу 1913 he had his own business. He had three different registered patents, for farm and cotton gin equipment. He was a trustee and board member of his Methodist church, Shriner, Rotarian and avid sportsmnn. He was instrumental to the process of his community, but also, had the ability to enjoy life and fellowship of humans. He died in 1940.

Charles Brown Overbey Sr.
Born in Franklin County, Tenn. April 13, 1879, to Robert Ajax Overbey and Nancy Martin Brown Overbey. He arrived in Greer Co. Feb. 1907 and began a successful career as teacher and educational administrator in the Greer County Consolidated School Systems. He was County Supt. of Schools from 1924-1930 and was instrumental in the organization of small district schools into consolidated systems. He served as president of the Southwestern District Educational Assoc. and the Greer Co. Education Assoc. He was a trustee and teacher in the First Methodist Church of Mangum. In 1911 he married Mary Ella Thompson who taught with him for many years. He died in 1948.
