1. Haleyville Formed Along the Byler Road Marker
By 1821, the state finished construction on the Byler Road through what would become Haleyville. Travelers who used the road began settling here. The first individual to obtain a land title in the area was Richard McMahan, Buckie Davis and Anderson Ward owned the land on which Haleyville is now located. First called Davis Cross Roads and then Davis Crossing, Haleyville was incorporated on February 28, 1889, and named for Charles and Walker Haley. The 1900 U.S. Census referred to the area as the "Biler Road" district "including Haleysville Town."
