Inscription. Taking its name from the Pebble Post Office, Pebble School educated generations of children who lived along or near the Byler Road since it opened in 1906. The first school operated in the Pearson home until the state constructed a school building. Pebble School consolidated with New Harmony School in the 1920s. The school burned December 4, 1928, and was rebuilt on this site in 1930. A separate lunchroom, completed in 1947, still stands. The school remained open until May 1973, when it closed and consolidated with Haleyville City Schools. In 1986, the new property owner demolished the 1930 school building.
