Olde Town Arvada in Jefferson County, Colorado — The American Mountains (Southwest)

A Grand View
Grandview Avenue traces its history to early commercial property. First named Pine Bluff Road, it was a dusty, major wagon road linking Denver and Arvada.
Open For Business
Preserving the spectacular views to the south, early businesses opened along the north side of Pine Bluff Road. To reach these businesses, pedestrians crossed the unpaved street and the planks laid across an open irrigation ditch.
Street Name Reflects Scenery
By 1870, the new Colorado Central Railroad linked Arvada to Denver and Golden. City officials renamed Pine Bluff Road Railroad Street. In 1980, Railroad Street was changed to Grand View Avenue. In 1917, Grandview Avenue became one word and in 1925, it was paved through downtown.
People purchased houses on Grand View Avenue because of the lovely view of the valley and mountains.
Grand View was a sand road and every time it rained or snowed buggies got stuck in the mud. (Inez Johnson. Footprints in the Way: Arvada Presbyterian Church, 1904-1984).
