1. Eric Clark Coastal Preserve Marker

Inscription.
The Mississippi Legislature established the Eric Clark Coastal Preserve in 2023. As Secretary of State from 1996 to 2008, Clark led in the permanent preservation of more than 16.000 acres of coastal wetlands, including Deer Island and Indian Point. The Indian Point property, consisting of more than 900 acres, makes up the Eric Clark Coastal Preserve. All of the acquired land is part of the Department of Marine Resources Coastal Preserves Program. created by the Legislature in 1992 to protect wetlands on the Gulf Coast.
