La cimetière
Vers la fin du XVIIIe siecle, le nouveau cimetière communal s'implante à la porte Saint Rémy afin de remplacer les cinq cimetières situés autour des églises paroissiales, supprimées par la Convention en 1793. Sa superficie est agrandie plusieurs fois jusqu'en 1977; il est ensuite relayé par le cimetière intercommunal des Joncherolles, à Villetaneuse. Au détour de ses allées, se trouvent le monument élevé à la mémoire des 106 défenseurs de Saint-Denis, morts dans la ville pendant le siège de la guerre de 1870, la tombe de Pierre Degeyter, compositeur de l'Internationale, le rond-point des fusillés, où ont été réunis les corps des Dionysiens suppliciés par les nazis, et le monument élevé à la mémoire des morts en déportation.
