The Historic Kootenai County Jail
From 1892-1908, Restored in 2010

The jail housed all male and female County prisoners, and the indigent and insane for the area from the Canadian border to south of Moscow, between Montana and Washington. It became a city jail when the county seat was moved from Rathdrum to Coeur d'Alene in 1908. The building later served as a city hall, library and city shop prior to restoration in 2010. It was originally designed by renowned architect, Isaac Galbraith.
