John Francis Ewalt was born Jan. 15, 1859 at Monticello, Missouri. One of eight children born to Henry Dunkley Ewalt and Curilla Covington Ewalt. Brothers and sisters: Colman Covington 1849, Henry Richard 1851, William Stamps 1852, Elizabeth Kittura 1854, Margaret Morgan 1857, Noah Spears 1860, Samuel Dunkley 1862. John moved to Bedford, Tx. in 1879 and married Alice Morning Gilstrap on Sept. 5, 1886 in Roandak, Tx. One son and four daughters were born to this union. They moved to OK in Aug. 1899. Settled S.W. of Mangum then moved 3½ mles east of Mangum in 1901 in the City View community. Besides farming, he hauled freight from Quanah, Tx. He helped build the first one room school house and served on the school board at City View. He was a Mason and worked in the Sunday school and other community projects. He and Alice moved to Lone Wolf in 1926. He died on Jan. 13, 1943.

Charlie Shaheen Moses
Born 1875 in Deir Mimass, Lebanon to Esiah & Helen Moses, youngest of three children, orphaned as an infant & reared by his sister Rose Tuma. Married in 1896 to Fannie Massad in Lebanon. In search of a better life he left & worked his way to So. America on a freighter. He arrived in 1901 & worked on a coffee plantation until 1902 when he set sail for America. He landed at Ellis Island knowing no one and speaking no English. He joined his niece in Il, working to save money to send for his family. They were reunited in 1904 & moved to Oklahoma City until 1906, at which time they moved & settled on a farm 3½ miles NW of Brinkman. He died in 1948 after celebrating the 4th of July with his family. He is buried in Brinkman. The "Dream of living in the land of Opportunity" enabled Charlie to meet & conouer the challenges of a new frontier.
