2. 27th Indiana Infantry Marker
The monument is south of the New York and Pennsylvania monuments, and is just visible in side profile at right. The back is rough-cut stone.
More about this memorial. Marker was originally placed to be visible on the original road up to Dove Hill, but modern traffic patterns and property sales resulted in the Dove Hill Road being relocated to the south and the original road being abandoned. The road trace is still next to the driveway for the house at 10247 N James Madison Hwy, and this monument - as well as two others - are just off it within the property line of 21725 Dove Hill Road.
Regarding 27th Indiana Infantry. The marker is supposed to indicate the position of the 27th Indiana Infantry Regiment during the Battle of Cedar Mountain. It was shipped to Virginia in October 1901. Most maps of the battle put the 27th Indiana further to the northwest than where the monument sits.

4. Richmond Times Article on the Marker
Published in the Times on 26 October 1901. The monument was in place prior to the 40th reunion and the dedication of the nearby 28th New York monument, which occurred the following August.
