1. The Town Dock Marker
Inscription. There was a large dock at the end of Broadway for steamships like the Mistletoe which landed tourists and fishing parties from Tampa, then taking on vegetables at Corey's Landing further south, en route to Sarasota.

The dock was enclosed and had an ice house for the storage of fish. The dock was swept away in the hurricane of 1921 which also leveled most of the homes on the Key.

Broadway then was only a dirt road running from the Bay to the Gulf. It crossed a wooden foot bridge over Stone Crab or Savarese Bayou. The Bayou was filled by Manatee County when the road was rebuilt in the mid-1920s.
