Order of Manitoba
Lieutenant Governor Janice C. Filmon, C.M., O.M. celebrated the recipients of the Order of Manitoba with the gifting of more than 70 trees to Assiniboine Park during Canada's 150.
A blend of alder, birch and ash, these beautiful trees are planted in six locations throughout the park, each representing recipients awarded during her time in office.
Established in 1999, the Order of Manitoba is the highest and most prestigious honour in the Province of Manitoba. The Order recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence and achievement in any field of endeavor, benefitting in an outstanding manner the social, cultural or economic well-being of Manitoba and its residents.
The Lieutenant Governor's Tree Project, is a legacy initiative of Her Honour's which aims to provide a meaningful, sustainable way to recognize award winners, volunteers and visionaries in communities throughout the province.
For generations to come, Canadians young and old will sit in the shade of these glorious trees and together celebrate this great nation we call home.
