Garden Plots and Farm Trucks
Between the late 1860s and the 1930s, agriculture was the main activity in this valley with the area south of the bluff producing most of Arvada’s crops from its garden plots and truck farms.

Subdivisions and Businesses
In the 1950s and 1960s, valley land use changed as small residential subdivisions popped up and retail and industrial businesses opened.

The completion of Wadsworth Bypass (1958) and Interstate 70 (1960s) connected Arvada to Interstate 25 and downtown Denver, stimulated development in the valley as well as in Olde Town.

The Clear Creek Valley below the Olde Town bluff on Grandview reflects early development and land use patterns as Arvada developed over time—agricultural, residential, commercial and industrial.

Encouraging Growth in the Valley
In 1981, the Arvada Urban Renewal Authority (AURA) began the task of stimulating economic activity south of Olde Town. In the 1990s, this area exploded with commercial growth creating a booming increase in Arvada’s prosperous future.
