1. Lines Cemetery Marker
Inscription. Lines Cemetery is the last visible remnant of early communities that existed in the vicinity of Gold Creek south of Conway in the late 19th century. Beginning in the 1870s, families moved into this sparsely populated district; the earliest interments date from that time. Many of the settlers buried here were related by marriage, including members of the Barley, Lind, Shira, Line, and Higgs families. Notable burials include A.S. Lind, a Union Civil War veteran from Ohio and prominent postwar Faulkner County farmer, and Joseph W. and Charity Hendershott Line, the son and mother who donated the land for the cemetery. Lines Cemetery (sometimes also called Line or Line’s) was listed in the Arkansas Register of Historic Places in 2018.
