1. West Orange Police Station Marker
Inscription. On April 30, 1892 S.M. Hedges & Co. a flour, feed, and grain business was destroyed by fire along with a connected row of stores known as hedges block. Two of the tenants displaced by the fire were the West Orange Municipal Government and Police Department. Hedges Block was rebuilt following the fire and the West Orange Police Department occupied rented quarters here from 1894 to 1905 in the current day liquor store. Notations on the wall from that time attributed to Officer John Heslin were found in 2018 in the basement of the former police station
