1. Mary Williams Marker

Inscription. Mary Williams (1736-1816) lived on the family farm across from this location during the Revolutionary War. Her husband Nathaniel was a British sympathizer known as a Tory and fled in 1777. He took their two eldest sons with him to fight with the British forces in New York City. Williams refused to join him and remained here with their 4 youngest children and is remembered as a patriot and heroine. Her loyalty endured as she overcame hardships and sacrifices during the struggle and fight for American independence.
