City of Texarkana, Texas
| | Walk Through History | |
Spring Lake Park officially became a city park in 1924. It is one of only a handful of parks to be designated by the Texas Recreation & Park Society (TRAPS) as a Lone Star Legacy Park. To qualify for this distinction, a park must hold special prominence and have a long history in the community.
As you walk around the lake, take time to delve into the rich history that our community has cultivated. As the park has transformed over the years, it has provided fond memories and a warm sense of nostalgia for the community.

(by Miranda Cutchall) Excerpt: Spring Lake Park in Texarkana, Texas has been a historical landmark since it was founded in 1916. Most all residents from Texarkana and even the surrounding area have memories from Spring Lake Park, from birthday parties, to cook-outs or feeding ducks, to fishing or maybe even getting water from the spring well house that for many years was open. For over 100 years families in and around the Ark-La-Tex area have come to make memories that they will remember forever. Even knowing what took place back in 1946. The Phantom killer may have caused families to stay clear of Spring Lake Park in the past, but that is no longer the case. This park has created so many memories for decades and will continue to help make more for hopefully decades to come.(Submitted on January 5, 2026, by Cosmos Mariner of Cape Canaveral, Florida.)
