In honor of our Nation’s Bicentennial the West Point Bicentennial Commission dedicates to the City of West Point, Iowa this flag pole and bell display. The bell originally hung in the school house in this city park.
Dedicated July 4, 1976

The Bicentennial culminated on Sunday, July 4, 1976, with the 200th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Founding Fathers in the Second Continental Congress. A wave of patriotism and nostalgia swept the nation.
