This was the location of the Ternes police station, where on January 21/22, 1941, a dozen police officers, members of the resistance group le Coq Gaulois (“the Gallic Rooster”) were arrested. They were tried by the German occupiers, imprisoned, and deported.

On May 22, 1941, the German military court of Gross Paris sentenced a group of police officers belonging mainly(Submitted on January 15, 2026.)to the Ternes police station to various penalties of imprisonment and detention. The grounds combine attempted assistance to the enemy, illicit possession of weapons, possession of anti-German leaflets, and illicit association activities. On July 7, those sentenced to detention were deported to Germany, while those sentenced to imprisonment were dispersed to various French prisons.
On Tuesday, Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, and Michel Cadot, Prefect of Police, will unveil a plaque at 14 rue de l'Etoile, in front of the former Ternes police station, paying tribute to these twelve police officers, members of the resistance group "Le Coq Gaulois", who bear witness to the commitment to resistance within the Parisian police force.
