Inscription.
Aiken's residents know trees are one of the city's greatest assets. Aiken has been recognized as a Tree City USA every year since 1985. Even the city's Visit Aiken logo has trees. In fact, Aiken is home to one of the most diverse collections of trees found in any urban landscape and a four-mile radius of the city has been designated a Citywide Arboretum. Some of the most spectacular trees grow along Colleton Avenue - the Arboretum Walking Trail.

Preserving Our Trees
Aiken and its residents are dedicated to preserving their arboreal heritage. The City of Aiken, Aiken Land Conservancy, and Aiken Streetscapes have teamed up to preserve and protect Aiken's trees for future generations. The group commissioned an assessment of all trees on city property to create a roadmap for their future care.

What to Look for:
Look for the label at each tree to learn more.

Did You Know?
Many of the trees were planted by the owners of a local rare plant mail order nursery called Woodlanders.
