Historic Columbia realized its strategic goal of establishing this modern horticultural facility through generous support in 2020 and 2021 from the Darnell W. and Susan F. Boyd Foundation, Inc. The mission of the Boyd Foundation Horticultural Center is to preserve the heritage of southern gardening through research, resourcing, propagation, and dissemination of cultivars of historically significant 18th- and 19th-century horticultural specimens.
