Wadsworth Boulevard

Imagine how surprised Benjamin Wadsworth would be today if he were to travel the boulevard bearing his name! When he died in 1893, the population of Arvada was 125 and Wadsworth Boulevard was a dirt road.

Dirt Road to Major Thoroughfare
Wadsworth Boulevard has come a long way from its humble beginnings as Centre Street. Today it is a busy 26-mile thoroughfare running between US 36 and C470 through four suburban communities.

Auto Sales & Service Hub
In the early part of the 20th century, Wadsworth Boulevard reflected the changes that the automobile brought to the frontier. It became known as automobile row as four automobile dealerships, two service stations and an oil sales company sprouted along the two blocks in downtown Arvada.

New automobiles, arriving by train, were unloaded and driven to Arvada dealerships. Youngsters anxious to see the latest models scurried down to the depot, relishing the smell of new cars.
