À la mémoire des centaines d'enfants et de vieillards juifs qui, de 1942 à 1944, regroupés à l'orphelinat, à l'hôpital et à l'hospice Rothschild, furent raflés par la police de Vichy, puis déportés et assassinés dans les camps d'extermination nazis.

Souvenons-nous de ces victimes de la haine raciale

In memory of the hundreds of Jewish children and elderly people who, between 1942 and 1944, were gathered at the Rothschild orphanage, hospital, and hospice, only to be rounded up by the Vichy police, deported, and murdered in Nazi extermination camps.

Let us remember these victims of racial hatred.

During the German occupation of France in World War II, it was placed under the control of Nazi occupying forces and used as a detention center. The hospital was called a "mousetrap": Jewish women who gave birth at the hospital would be required to register and surrender their children to the Gestapo immediately after birth. A resistance network was organized with the help of medical personnel in the hospital. Many children were declared stillborn to prevent the Nazis of being aware of their existence.
