1. Korean Emigrants Marker
A century has elapsed since the first Korean emigrants who left jemulpo Port, arrived in the port of Honolulu, Hawaii on January 13, 1903. The emigration was a historic moment for the Korean people, who had never experienced a world outside of their own. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of such a historical moment and uphold the Korean people's genuine pride, this significant immigration Centennial Korean Traditional Park with Hexagon Pavilion have been built at Iao Valley on the Island of Maui, under the sponsorship of the Korean National Cultural Center Construction Committee and with the support of many Koreans at home and abroad. We wish that this park would serve to favor the Korean traditional beauty to many visiting Koreans as well as numerous people from various nations worldwide while delivering a fraternal message: "We are the one."
