Erected 1978 by Berkeley County Historical Society; replacing an earlier marker placed in 1930 by the Berkeley County Commission.

Location. 39° 23.367′ N, 78° 6.583′ W. Marker is near Gerrardstown, West Virginia, in Berkeley County. It is at the intersection of Gerrardstown Road (West Virginia Route 51) and Apple Harvest Drive ( Route 45), on the right when traveling north on Gerrardstown Road. The marker stands in the intersection withinin a triangle created by the turn lane from 51 northwest onto 45 northeast. Touch for map. Regarding Mills Gap. Mills Gap is the southernmost gap in North Mountain, and it was used as a crossing point by settlers traveling the old Pack Horse Road, a former Indian trail from Shepherdstown to Romney.

Located atop the mountain, it offers a panoramic view of the Shenandoah Valley below.
