1. Hay Loaders Marker
Inscription. Until the 1880s most hay that was loaded into wagons was loaded by hand, just as it had been done for centuries. In fact from 1870 to the close on the 19th century, farmers saw more mechanization than at any other period in recorded history. The hay loader came as another of the great labor-saving inventions, remaining at the forefront of the hay crop until the hay baler became the dominant method in the 1950s.

Little is known of market values for vintage hay loaders. They are seldom seen today, most of them have gone under the cutters torch long ago or have rotted away along a fence row.
