Inscription.
In 1934, career criminal Charles Arthur "Pretty Boy" Floyd met his demise at what is now Hoover, Floyd was accused of at least a dozen murders, known as Beaver Creek State Park. Designated "Public Enemy No. 1" by FBI Director J. Edgar mostly police officers, and a string of bank robberies.

Believed to be returning to his home in the Cookson Hills of Oklahoma after a year of hiding, Floyd and his partner attracted the attention of local police near Wellsville, Ohio. Authorities captured his partner, but Floyd remained on the run for days. The law found him in what used to be known as the Conkle farmhouse. When Floyd took off through the field, officers opened fire. Floyd died 15 minutes after he was shot. His last words were, "You got me twice."
