1. Real Daughter Marker
Isabell Conway was one of only 767 women to receive the designation as a Real Daughter, a woman who was a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and a daughter of a Revolutionary War Patriot. She was a member of the Benjamin Tallmadge Chapter, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Isabell was the daughter of Phillip Johnson of New York, a private in the Revolutionary War who enlisted in 1781, and his wife, Susannah Pettit.
Isabel married Matthew Savage, a teamster, and lived with him and their three sons in New York and Michigan. She later married Peter Conway, a farmer and Civil War veteran, and they moved to Spokane, Washington. Isabella worked and was a proprietress of two downtown hotels.
The Conways purchased this home in 1909. At seventy-five years old, Isabell continued to be active by cooking, ironing, and gardening as a means of "keeping young." She expressed that she hoped to live a good many years and wanted them all to be useful ones.
Isabel continued to live here until her death.
