(1908 to commemorate Ludwig II's visit to Fürth in 1866. Donated by Alfred Nathan whose mother, as a girl, showed the king the way to the town hall. Destroyed during the Third Reich. 1993 Rebuilt.)

The marker is visible here set into the pavement at the foot of the fountain.
Josef Köpf, attached to the fountain's top, depicts this encounter. After being demolished by the National Socialists and suffering decades of neglect, the fountain was restored in 1993 during the construction of a new hotel on Nürnberger Straße, though not entirely to its original form…

Bronze relief showing the encounter between King Ludwig II and the two girls. Note this is a replacement relief, as the original is thought to have been melted for scrap in 1942.
