Three months later, she earned two first-place Blue Ribbons at the Illinois State Fair for her peach and apple entries., She credits her accomplishments to her friend and pie-baking teacher, Atlanta resident Bill Thomas - but Lumi was already an experienced baker having learned breadmaking and other baking skills from her mother while growing up in Macedonia.
