There is an African penguin colony at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town, South Africa, a suburb of Cape Town. It is one of 28 remaining colonies of wild African penguins.

There are about 2,000 birds in the Boulders Beach colony. In the past, some African penguin colonies had more than a million birds.
