So, here is a photo of the Battleship Texas commemorating 20th century Texas soldiers, in front of the San Jacinto Monument commemorating the Battle of San Jacinto (1836), where the Texas Revolution was won. Robert Rankin, Mrs. Callaway's great, great grandfather, was a friend of Sam Houston's and played a crucial role in maintaining good relations with the Native Americans, which facilitated the winning of the war.
