A Legacy Rooted in the Heart of Capitol Hill
The building at 326 East Capitol Street was constructed before 1857, originally owned by Dr. Samuel C. Busey and purchased by Louis Huber after the Civil War. The building was home to a diverse mix of the neighborhood businesses - including a grocery store, a laundry shop, a barber shop, and eventually, a community pharmacy.
A pharmacy first opened at this location in 1867 to serve the growing Capitol Hill community. The name Grubb's Pharmacy was adopted in 1931, when brothers John and Charles Grubb took ownership - establishing a neighborhood institution that has withstood the test of time.
Just steps from the U.S. Capitol, Grubb's has provided care for generations of Washington residents and visitors - including Congressional lawmakers, Presidential candidates, and historic civil rights icons such as Congressman John Lewis and Rosa Parks.
"A Capitol Hill institution - rooted in history, driven by care."
