A Piece of Jasper's History

Témoin de l’Histoire de Jasper
This rustic shelter was built in 1933 by workers involved in a federal relief project during the Great Depression. Since that time, the building has served generations of visitors and residents attracted to this scenic destination.
Parks Canada has recognized this shelter as a Federal Heritage Building. Its use of local materials, building design, and period of construction provide heritage character, which Parks Canada will preserve for park visitors. While historical graffiti may be interesting, continued marking on the walls is inappropriate and will diminish the heritage value of the building.
