Pambansang Aklatan ng Pilipinas

Ang diwa ng Pambansang Aklatan ay nagsimula nang itatag ang Museo-Biblioteca de Filipinas sa bisa ng isang Real Decreto ni Reyna Maria Cristina ng Espanya, 12 Agosto 1887. Pinasinayaan, 24 Oktubre 1891. Unang nagbukas sa Calle Gunao, Quiapo, Maynila at kalauna'y lumipat sa Casa de Moneda, Intramuros, Maynila. Itinuloy sa panahon ng mga Amerikano ang pagbubuo ng Pambansang Aklatan nang pag-isahin ang mga aklatang pampubliko bilang the Philippine Library, 20 Mayo 1909, at nakilala sa iba't ibang pangalan. Lubhang napinsala noong Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig, liban sa ilang koleksyong nakaligtas sa pambobomba noong 1945 sa Maynila. Nakilala bilang Pambansang Aklatan ng Pilipinas sa bisa ng Batas Republika Blg. 10087, 13 Mayo 2010. Nagsisilbing tahanan ng karunungan, kasaysayan, at kulturang Pilipino.

24 October 1891. First opened on Calle Gunao, Quiapo, Manila and later moved to the Casa de Moneda, Intramuros, Manila. The formation of the National Library was continued during the time of the Americans when the public libraries were unified as the Philippine Library, 20 May 1909, and became known by various names. Greatly damaged during the Second World War, except for a few collections that survived the bombing in 1945 in Manila. Recognized as the National Library of the Philippines by virtue of Republic Act No. 10087, 13 May 2010. Serving as the home of Filipino knowledge, history, and culture.
