Discover Anza-Borrego
Welcome to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California's largest state park. With over 600,000 acres to explore, from desert floor to mountain peaks, there are ample opportunities for discovery. Enjoyment awaits you, whether you choose an overlook.or a hiking trail, summer or winter, day or night.
Anza-Borrego is a place apart from the urban worlds over the horizon. Here you can find solitude - a quiet filled with the sounds of the natural world, like wind, birds, a scurrying antelope squirrel, even the trickle of water.
You can discover history here as well, traces of many who passed this way before, including native peoples, explorers, migrants, ranchers, scientists, dreamers, and artists.
And then there is the sky. This is one of those increasingly rare places where you can enjoy the beauty of an immense natural nightscape, awash with countless brilliant stars.
Explore and enjoy. But first, continue down this walkway and learn more at our visitor center.
Even today the most jaded city dweller can be unexpectedly moved upon encountering a clear night sky studded with thousands of twinkling stars. When it happens to me after all these years it still takes my breath away.
