Rebuilt in 1942 using bricks from the original school building, it has stylistic influences of the Modern Movement. This site has been part of the school system since 1889 when the Brownsville Public school, a two-story building with porches and the citys first school. was built here. Annie S. Putegnat was a teacher (1889-1929) and later principal at the Brownsville Public School.
