Built in 1894 by S.W. Brooks for Josephine Glavecke Browne Browne, the house is an example of Brownsville's 19th century Border Brick style residences. It was designed to take advantage of the prevailing southeast Gulf winds. The house has been owned by several Rio Grande Valley pioneer families including the Brownes, Wagners, Hallams, Hooks and Raymonds.
