Sons of Liberty Flag - 1775
Known as the "Rebellious Stripes," this flag was officially adopted by the Sons of Liberty, a secret society that began in Boston and New York but soon expanded throughout the American colonies. Many distinguished patriots, such as Samuel Adams, John Hancock, Patrick Henry and Paul Revere were members. The group's objective was to protect the rights of colonists and to respond to abuses of power by the British. They are most remembered for planning and carrying out the Boston Tea Party.
